Tips on Résumé Writing

Below are some tips to improve your Résumé. A professional résumé service can help you address all these areas and more.

First impression is the last impression:
We have earlier mentioned that your résumé gets no more than 30 seconds of the recruiter’s eyeballs. If your résumé does not grab attention in the first 20-30 seconds your chances of getting an interview call is greatly reduced. All the potential recruiter cares for is why should they invite you for an interview?   Hence a short summary of your skills and capabilities and a list of major achievements can keep you in good stead. While your intent is to make the recruiter invite you for an interview but please be careful do not end up overselling yourself.
Presentation and Layout:
The presentation of your résumé is extremely important even if the wording you use is terrific. If the recruiter cannot find the information that they want quickly they will move on to someone résumé.

Hence introduce plenty of spaces in your résumé with proper headings and section breaks. Avoid using a Typewriter even if you have an electronic one.

Avoid over writing your résumé :
As this would make it difficult for the recruiter to read and make sense. Avoid long sentences.

Hence always remember the KISC principle; Keep it short and crisp. You could also use bullet points to break up the information into manageable pieces.
Less Information:
If you have incorporated little information or the wrong kind of information a recruiter will not be able to make an informed decision on whether to invite you for an interview or not.

Therefore, you need to identify what the recruiter is looking so that you can ensure that your résumé only includes information that is relevant to their needs. Irrelevant information is noise.
Organization of your résumé:
If your résumé is disorganized then the recruiter will find it hard to track your skills and abilities and won't be able to build up a good representation of you.
Résumé Bloopers:
Misspellings, Typographical errors and poor grammar make you look lazy or careless which are not the sort of traits you want to depict to an employer.

Get a result oriented Résumé:
A good résumé is a ticket to an interview. Please remember that your résumé is a showcase to the prospective employer or that school. If it doesn't tell an employer/ school why they should select you then it has failed.

To get on the road to successful résumé.
